Vibrantly red,  yet surprisingly sweet in flavour. The piquillo pepper holds a nearly un-detectable heat messuring in at only 500-100 scoville heat unit; compare that to the 2500-8000 of the jalapeno pepper and you can see the difference. 

Succulent, mild in heat, with smokey undertones. This classic Spanish pepper has thick walls like a classic bell pepper stuff them with manchego cheese and roast them in olive oil for a classic tapas dish.  Or try some of these other ways:
